If your piece is used in the kitchen, refresh it every few months—or as needed—with food-safe mineral oil, walnut oil, or beeswax. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat, and excess moisture, and never use harsh cleaners or chemicals. Handle it gently to prevent dents or scratches, and store it in an environment that is not too damp or too dry.

Display or store your piece away from extremes in heat and humidity. Never leave it in front of a heat register or air conditioning unit. Other places to avoid include the top of a refrigerator, near a humidifier or dehumidifier, and fireplace mantles.
